Excellence signed by a unique name.
In 1967 began the collaboration with the master of Italian design, architect Gio Ponti. Besides architecture, he devoted himself to designing furniture, lamps, fabrics, glass objects and worked on both exhibitions and theatre productions.
Thanks to this fruitful collaboration, Ponti is among the first companies to produce cutting-edge prototypes and furniture.
Amongst the most important projects we should mention the furniture for the Taranto Co-cathedral sacristy, and the first “Apta” furniture range: adaptable pieces of furniture that are light, not bulky and easily movable, apt for a new way of thinking and transforming our homes.
The “Apta” range included the “Gabriela” chair, also named “Poltrona di poco sedile” meaning “recliner with a small seat”. The prototype is by Walter Ponti and it was relaunched in the 1980s by Pallucco as “Pontiponti”; this name was suggested by Gio Ponti at Domus magazine, motivated by the intriguing coincidence for which the architect and the furniture-maker share the same name.
